In fragrance terms, "almond" refers to both the flowering tree and it's edible seeds. It is most commonly an accord, meaning the bitter almond note is produced not only from almonds, but cherries, apricots, peaches, and prunes.
The almond note can thereby take many forms depending on the perfumer: the creamy, softly gourmand almond is derived from a material called heliotropine, whereas a nuttier, milkier version, or a toasted almond note, is the product of tonka bean and coumarin seeds.
Scent Profile: A soft, powdery, milky, nutty, bittersweet note usually flanked with vanilla, heliotrope and cherry; enveloping and gourmand.
