Elemi

The tears of a tree.

Elemi is a tree native to the Phillipines. The tree produces a resin, which is a pale yellow substance from which aromatic elemi oil is extracted via steam distillation. Alternatively, the resin is solvent washed, to obtain an elemi resinoid.

Scent Profile: Described as "terpenic", recalling fresh pine needles; clean, green with citrusy undertones. The resinoid has a spicier, peppery, woody-grassy character.
