Myrrh
The gift of kings.
Like Frankincense, it is an aromatic olioresin - a natural blend of essential oil and resin. It is derived from various species of the genus of flowering plants known as Commiphora.
Tapping is the method used to extract this resin. An incision is made in the plant which pierces the resin reservoirs. Once they flow out, the droplets harden and are steam distilled to produce the essential oil. Myrrh absolute is obtained via alcohol extraction.
Scent Profile: Dark, woodsy, aromatic and warm, sometimes medicinal.
Found In: Christian Dior, Bois D'Argent EDP (2018).
