Labdanum

Rock Rose. 

Labdanum (or cistus labdanum or rock rose) is a rich brown resin sourced from cistus shrubs of the rock rose plant. The resin is used mainly by the perfume industry and obtained by boiling the leaves and twigs, via solvent extraction or steam distillation. 

Scent Profile: Deep, powerful, leathery and ambery note. One of the default ingredients in chypre fragrances as well as essential to an amber accord in oriental scents.
