Fig

Prunus amygdalis.

In modern perfumery, there is no actual fig oil used. The recreation of the smell of fig trees in fragrance is possible thanks to two crucial ingredients: stemone and octalactone gamma

Stemone imparts a green, fresh tonality like mint that, when combined with octalactone gamma (prune-like) evokes the earthy, sticky green of fig leaves and the milky sap.

Scent Profile: A complex mix of milky sweet facets with ripe fruit notes and bitter green nuances. Often used in woody compositions or in tandem with a hint of coconut and greenery to give a perfume a distinctly Mediterranean feel.

Found In: Diptyque, Philosykos, 1996.
