Every summer, Albert Fouquet and his friend Christian traded the Deauville racetrack for the quiet of Honfleur - a coastal village of walled gardens, sea air, and roses. It was there Fouquet composed a scent for himself alone, and there that Christian, knowing he'd never simply be given it, bet him a horse race for the formula. Christian lost. Fouquet sent him the perfume anyway. Le Pari d'Honfleur - the bet of Honfleur - is a fragrance born of friendship keeping a promise it never technically made.
It opens green and gently spiced: Guatemalan cardamom, violet, and fig - the fig ripe rather than milky, sun-warmed one. The heart softens into tonka, papyrus, and a whisper of coconut, like the garden meeting the shoreline. Sandalwood, Virginia cedar, and musk settle it into skin: warm, composed, quietly amber.
Wear it for long lunches, coastal evenings, and the company you'd lose a bet for on purpose.
